Rey Faustino is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to the vital, life-saving resources they need to achieve social and economic mobility. Six years ago, Rey started One Degree, a technology-driven nonprofit organization that harnesses modern tech to directly empower low-income and at-risk families and individuals with the resources to achieve upward mobility. One Degree is building a public utility for social services so that people can easily access the support and benefits they need while giving funders and policymakers the critical information they need to make informed decisions for their community. Rey’s passion for equity and social justice comes from his upbringing in a working-class immigrant family from the Philippines. His parents dedicated their lives to making sure their kids had better opportunities in the US, and they worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. Like many new immigrants, his family faced challenges in meeting their basic needs, such as health care, educational programs, and immigration services.
