Erwin has over two decades of experience at the intersection of innovation, strategy, and emerging technologies. At Lean Startup Co., he teaches, coaches, and mentors executive product and innovation teams to consistently discover business model strategies that unlock new and emerging value.
Previously, Erwin served as Head of Loan Products Scouting and Strategy at Freddie Mac, where he launched groundbreaking initiatives like the DPAOne platform. He helped establish the Innovation and Ventures Office at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, served as Chief Innovation Strategist, and led PwC’s Data and Analytics Innovation Incubator. A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and Airborne Ranger-qualified combat veteran, he has coached enterprise and startup teams across national security, finance, and technology sectors in applying Lean Startup and Human-Centered Design methodologies.
Erwin holds a BA in International Studies from Colby College and an MA in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS. Born in Guatemala, raised in Chicago, and now based in Northern Virginia, he is a husband and father of three who spends much of his time mentoring boys and men in small Guatemalan communities.
