Jonathan Bertfield

Jonathan Bertfield is an innovation strategist and the CEO of Lean Startup Co, where he leads strategy, client partnerships, and consulting engagements that help large organizations embed experimentation and entrepreneurial capability at scale.

With deep experience inside both startups and global enterprises, Jonathan brings a pragmatic, outcome-driven approach to innovation. He helps leadership teams move beyond theory—building systems of governance and experimentation that unlock new growth while aligning with organizational culture and goals.

Earlier in his career, Jonathan was a founder and early team member at several startups in the edtech and gaming sectors, before taking on innovation leadership roles at Pearson and Sesame Workshop. He has since advised a wide range of clients, including Nissan, Microsoft, Citi, Marriott, Vanguard, LegalZoom, and Disney, as well as government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense, HHS, and the UK Ministry of Defense.

Jonathan is also a frequent keynote speaker and facilitator, with dozens of talks delivered on topics such as innovation strategy, experimentation, and innovation governance at conferences and executive events globally.

Originally from Manchester, England, Jonathan has lived and worked across Israel, San Francisco, and New York, and is currently based in Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Leeds.
